Frequently asked questions
What is EVA-FOAM?
EVA-FOAM is an alternative material to traditional carpet or wooden / synthetic floors. Made from closed cell RE/EVA, it does not absorb water, provides excellent traction whether wet or dry, it is resistant to sun radiation and does not heat up during the day. Because of its shock absorbing properties it offers exceptional comfort to boat passengers.
How is EVA-FOAM applied?
EVA-FOAM is self-adhesive with glue coating, specially designed for marine use. When removed, it does not damage the boat’s gel coating. No additional adhesive medium is needed.
How do I clean EVA-FOAM?
EVA-FOAM is easily cleaned with warm soap water and a soft brush. Do not use acidic cleaning agents.
What is the material’s dimensions?
EVA-FOAM comes in 120 X 220cm sheets with specific grain orientation.
What is the cost?
Cost is calculated by m² and taking into account the available sheet size and design pattern. Please call on +30 210 28 51 225 or e-mail us at info@boatwrapping.gr for further information.
What is the material’s durability?
EVA-FOAM’s durability is estimated by the manufacturer at approximately 36 months. This time can fluctuate individually depending on use, weather conditions, maintenance, etc. EVA is a ‘value for money’ material, yet it too will degrade in time. The boat should be sheltered from extreme weather conditions and let to dry regularly. No adhesive material can retain its properties indefinitely, less so when exposed constantly to moisture and dust.
Is it easy to apply?
Application is quite easy – please see the relevant instructions.
Is it easy to remove?
EVA-FOAM is designed for semi-permanent application, making it easy to remove without damaging the original boat’s surface. Just lift the edge and softly pull until it unsticks free. Should any glue residues remain, these can be soaked in acetone and rubbed with a soft cloth.
Are designs and patterns specific?
There is a great variety of patterns which can be carved onto the material. These are engraved by using latest technology CNC machinery and laser for branding individual logos and designs. With our experienced designers’ help you will have the option of creating unique customized designs.
Is it easily damaged?
EVA-FOAM is built for moderate use, intended to be trodden with naked feet or smooth marine shoes. It may be vulnerable to contact with sharp heels, hooks, spears or any pointed objects. However, because tiles are produced individually numbered, it is easy to replace any damaged pieces should an accident occur.
Is it resistant to spilt fuel?
EVA-FOAM is a water repellent material. Hard dirt like fish blood, fuel, oil, bird droppings, corrosive liquids and cleaning agents should be avoided or quickly cleaned if spilt. Stains may remain if this occurs.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, our company provides warranty. Please read the terms.
What colors does it come in?
Boat wrapping maintains a stock of the four basic colors (grey with black grooves, dark grey with black grooves, teak with black grooves and teak with white grooves). Any other colors could be ordered after arrangement with the company.
Will it stick on textured surfaces?
EVA-FOAM is designed to stick well on textured surfaces. For better sealing, however, it is preferable that at least the edges of tiles fall on a smooth surface.
What is the weight of the material?
EVA-FOAM weighs 1kg per m², which means that, for a 8-9m boat should correspond about 10kg of flooring material.
